Credit Analyst - Small-to-Medium Business (SMB)

Moneris is a company focused on managing credit risk for small-to-medium businesses. As a Credit Analyst, you will ensure effective underwriting and risk assessment for SMB merchants while collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Apply appropriate underwriting criteria to all merchant applications following established credit policy to ensure financial risk is avoided Post-review of merchants who need a line increase or are flagged by fraud process (re-adjudication) specifically in processing volume level or average transaction size Perform a credit risk assessment of an existing high-risk merchant which includes developing an understanding of the business profile to ensure compliance with credit, fraud, card association regulation and legal matters Analyze personal, business and financial information Work with internal staff and external sources for the purpose of Credit training, fraud detection, and monitoring activities Help with customer calls for complex merchant set-ups requiring explanation of specific credit policies and decisions related to those policies Work with Moneris Fraud Group to monitor the activity of selected High-Risk Merchants Provide back up and support to the other Analysts, concerning the SMB Credit process, special projects, vacation relief, and peak time volume Skills Up to 3 years of experience in a related field Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business, Accounting, or Finance Equivalent work experience may be considered a substitution Experience reviewing personal credit bureaus, commercial credit bureaus or financial statement analysis Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Windows/ Applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Previous experience in the payment industry considered an asset Benefits Comprehensive Total Rewards Program, including performance-based bonuses, flexible benefits starting from day one, and your choice of a health spending account (HSA) or personal spending account (PSA) Retirement planning support, with profit-sharing programs including company match and a defined contribution pension plan Growth & development opportunities, including unlimited access to Coursera, mentorship programs, and an internal gig marketplace Holistic wellness support, with an Employee & Family Assistance Program, 24/7 virtual healthcare, and workplace wellness initiatives Flexibility that works for you, including hybrid work arrangements, a Work from Abroad program, and paid time off programs Recognition and rewards, with company-wide recognition programs, exclusive banking perks from RBC & BMO, and access to great employee discounts Company Overview Moneris is Canada’s largest financial technology company that specializes in payment processing.
