Job Overview We are urgently hiring Registered Nurses to fill immediate openings in our Northwell Health Careers team. As a Registered Nurse at Northwell Health, you will be responsible for performing an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. You will collaborate with physicians and other health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures and treatments, and use your leadership skills and clinical judgment to coordinate patient care and direct/delegate activities of the patient care unit team. Key Responsibilities • Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures to patients and their significant others, and review patient charts to answer questions correctly and courteously. • Assess patients' gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, and determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition to adjust the plan of care as needed. • Assess patients' level of pain and pain management, and communicate and document their physiologic health status and plan of care. • Assess patients' psychosocial health status, elicit their perception of medical/nursing care, and identify their expectations of care. • Determine patients' coping mechanisms, knowledge level, and ability to comprehend, and identify cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure patient satisfaction. • Communicate and document patients' psychological status and care plan, including support groups, counseling services, and social services. • Identify patient outcomes, develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes, and identify actual/potential patient problems. • Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals, and identify care activities and establish priorities necessary to achieve expected outcomes. • Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes, and document the plan of care and collaborate with physicians and other health team members. • Implement the plan of care, and maintain constant vigilance over patients' care to ensure that safety precautions/needs are followed. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York. • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare organization. • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures, including the nursing process and patient assessment. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations and priorities. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field. • Certification in a specialty area, such as critical care, pediatrics, or gerontology. • Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare technology. • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
