Remote Full-time
Title: Project Coordinator, Salmon and Agriculture Program: Climate Adaptation Term: Until June 30, 2026, with possibility of extension Anticipated start date: November 15, 2025 Organizational Summary The Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) is salmon first, salmon always. We harness the passion and power of people to save and restore Pacific salmon in B.C. and the Yukon. And, we never go it alone, working with Indigenous partners, streamkeepers, government agencies and fellow ENGO’s, the PSF undertakes research, restoration initiatives and leadership in convening all those willing to help recover Pacific salmon. As People for Salmon, we’re here to help ensure sustainable populations of Pacific salmon for generations to come. Position Overview As a Project Coordinator focusing on salmon and agriculture, your main role will be advancing a project to enhance access to floodplain habitats in agricultural lands for juvenile salmon based on the “Nigiri” project piloted in California. Your efforts will contribute to restoring critical natural habitats and fostering self-sustaining fish populations, particularly focusing on endangered winter-run Chinook salmon. You will also join the project team for a conservation planning initiative in the Lower Fraser region. In addition, you will contribute to other projects in the Climate Adaptation Program related to conservation, recovery planning, and emergency climate actions. What You Will Do • Continue the development of a comprehensive guiding document for the project, outlining key factors for success of a “Nigiri” style project in the Lower Fraser floodplain. Share project ideas and findings with stakeholders to garner support and seek potential partners and suitable locations for a pilot project. • Create a robust concept plan for implementing a pilot test of the project idea, encompassing experimental design, plans for any necessary land use changes, a cost analysis, and effectiveness monitoring. Develop a detailed budget for the pilot. • Support contractors and partners in conducting site surveys and data collection to support the identification of potential locations for the project in the Lower Fraser floodplain. • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing project progress, findings, challenges, and recommendations for grant reporting, communicating among project partners, and to inform future initiatives and decision-making. • Engage with the community, local organizations, and educational institutions to raise awareness about the project, its objectives, and the importance of habitat restoration for salmon and wildlife in the Fraser Valley. • Contribute to coordination of other projects in PSF’s Climate Adaptation Program related to conservation planning in the Lower Fraser region, recovery planning, and emergency climate actions, as needed. • Other duties, as assigned. What You Bring • A degree or diploma, or training in ecology, habitat restoration, biology, environmental studies, GIS, or similar work experience. • 2+ years of work experience in a similar role. • Knowledge of pacific salmon biology and habitat requirements. • Familiarity with the Lower Fraser Valley area, an asset. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience in project coordination. • Proficiency with standard computer software (MS Office). • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. What We Offer • Mentorship and development: PSF is committed to lifelong learning. Team members benefit from ongoing mentoring and skill-building opportunities to support career growth. • Work–life balance: 15 paid vacation days (prorated for the contract duration), paid sick days, paid personal days for family or personal matters, and office closure during the winter holidays. • Benefits: Extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a group pension plan with a 4% employer-matching contribution (eligible from the start date). • Base pay: The salary range for the Analyst role is $58,000 – $65,000. The actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, and the contribution the successful candidate is expected to make in the role. Reporting and Supervision Supervised by the Manager, Climate Adaptation Program, the Project Coordinator is responsible for undertaking all work identified by them and meeting or exceeding the standard of care set by them. Location This role is primarily remote, with preference for candidates residing within the Lower Mainland. Travel will be required to participate in in-person meetings, site visits, workshops, and staff gatherings. Diversity and Inclusion We believe diversity is key to excellence and actively encourage applications from Indigenous persons, people with disabilities, members of marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, and members of groups that commonly experience discrimination based on race, ancestry, colour, religion/spiritual beliefs, or place of origin.
