Publishing Assistant (Books) — Part-Time | Long-Term | Flexible Hours

We’re a small, passionate publishing team looking for a detail-oriented assistant who loves books, understands the basics of publishing, and learns fast. This is a long-term, part-time remote role. Hours vary depending on workload — some weeks light, some busier. We value independence, reliability, curiosity, and someone who genuinely enjoys the world of books. Compensation: $250/month to start (increases available as you grow and take on more responsibility) This is a great role for someone who wants to be part of a publishing team long-term, learn the industry, and gradually take ownership of tasks. Internal admin work (spreadsheets, schedules, file organization, tracking publishing timelines) Emailing reviewers + sending digital books for review Responding to author emails Weekly team meeting (required) Occasional Zoom calls Social media posting + simple Canva or AI graphics Send weekly press releases Draft/edit press releases from materials provided (AI use welcome — as long as you can edit & refine the output) Support Director & Assistant Director with planning tasks Work independently once trained & take initiative What We’re Looking For Experience with books / publishing basics (even small experience is valuable) Fluent in English (written + spoken) Strong communication and organizational skills Quick learner with problem-solving instinct Able to work independently after training Comfortable using AI tools (and editing them so they sound human) Reliable, serious about work — not a short-term tester Tools You'll Use Google Business Suite Email Canva and AI design tools Premium AI writing & tools Internal publishing software You will be trained — but you must be proactive and able to handle tasks solo once familiar.
