[Remote] Edge Engineer (Computer Vision)

Franklin Fitch is seeking a skilled Forward Deployed Edge Engineer to join their Engineering team and partner closely with solution architects and implementation teams. The role involves delivering and supporting cutting-edge computer vision systems in industrial environments, focusing on hardware setup, networking, and system configuration. Responsibilities • Assemble, configure, and test edge hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson devices, cameras, and sensors prior to deployment. • Lead on-site installations and system bring-up, including mounting, cabling, and network setup (RTSP, VPN, SSH). • Troubleshoot and optimize edge systems in the field — from inference pipelines to data uploads and connectivity. • Collaborate with vendors and integrators to streamline sourcing, logistics, and on-site support. • Configure Linux-based edge devices and manage networking parameters (static IPs, interface binding, DHCP). • Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and setup guides. • Contribute to internal tools and processes that improve deployment speed, reliability, and consistency. • Maintain organised hardware inventory and ensure the availability of critical components for field work. • Provide field insights to product and engineering teams to guide continuous improvement. • Travel up to 75% to customer locations for deployments and technical support. Skills • Experienced with embedded devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson), industrial cameras, or related hardware in production or field settings. • Calm, creative, and effective when diagnosing and resolving complex on-site issues. • Comfortable operating independently in the field and knowing when to escalate. • Able to translate technical details into clear documentation and collaborate across teams. • Skilled in system-level debugging and tools such as nmcli, ifconfig, systemd, and Docker. • Proficient in Python and Bash for automating routine configuration or diagnostics. • Experience with computer vision frameworks or inference pipelines. • Familiarity with industrial automation environments or IoT deployments.
